Air Purification Systems Do More Than Just Move Air
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency states that indoor air pollution is one of the top-five environmental health risks we face. Indoor air is often substantially more polluted than outdoor air. This is due to a number of factors: dust, pets, cleaning chemicals, construction materials and household furnishings. Because people spend up to 90 percent of their time indoors, improving indoor air quality is important to our health and well being. Air purification systems can help clean your indoor air quality.
Added to a new or existing heating or air conditioning system, an air purification system can remove not only particles of dust and dander, but bacteria, viruses, ozone and vapors throughout your entire home. To accomplish this, an air purification system contains filters similar to — but more powerful than — those in a standard HVAC system. Purification systems may also use ultraviolet light to sterilize the air, killing airborne bacteria and mites. They may also use catalytic surfaces to break down odors and vapors, cleaning the air and improving air quality even further.
If you are considering adding an air purification system, you should know that Lennox currently offers a system unlike others on the market—the PureAir(r) Purification System. This system is capable of removing all 3 classes of air pollutants:
- particles like dust, pollen and pet dander (down to .3 microns)
- bioaerosols and microorganisms (down to .1 micron), including dust mites, viruses, bacteria, mold and fungi
- pet and household odors and vapors from cleaning supplies, paints, vapors from carpets and furniture
For more information about indoor air quality, contact the Beyer Boys and ask about an air quality evaluation. We will be pleased to answer your questions and help you make an informed decision about your air quality.
Our goal is to help educate our customers about energy and home comfort issues (specific to HVAC systems).
